Hurst: St Nicholas, Hurst
For those interested in history, St Nicholas church dates from the 11th Century. As with most parish churches the building has been considerably enlarged by succeeding generations. Inside there are many fine memorials, the earliest dating from the 16th century. The Chancel Screen was painted and gilded during the reign of Henry VII and the pulpit in about 1603.
Today there is the sense that we follow in the footsteps of all who have come for baptism, marriage and funerals, those special moments in life, as well as those who have met week by week to offer their prayers and praises.
We continue to celebrate that God is a God of love who shares the life of his world. We hope there is a warm welcome for everyone, whether they are coming to mark those special times or, are wanting to find out more about the Christian Way as well as those who would like to join in the weekly services.
